This is AWESOME! Looks and sounds like a communicator. Guess you could say it has all the bells and whistles. Sound quality is good and is a lot of fun to use. Especially like the magnetic back and sturdy construction.

Once again, the Wand Company has delivered on one of their best products yet! The WC Communicator is not only an incredible replica of the prop used in The Original Series, it also acts as a functional Bluetooth speaker that can relay calls and play music as if it were the real thing. It also plays sound clips from the main cast of Star Trek (minus Kirk and Chekov) when you push the buttons in certain directions. Having seen a prop of the original Communicator in person, the WC version is even better than any genuine prop from the 60s, as it is made to be quite durable. Just like the remote control phaser, it has a nice heft in weight... and despite the somewhat steep price in comparison to an Art Asylum toy replica, you won't need to pay thousands of dollars at Christie's auction to get a Communicator that is really as good if not much better than the original prop! Finally, the Communicator comes in a very nice plastic case with grooves that can lock onto the phaser case if you have that item too... very nice compatibility thinking from The Wand Company! ;) Things to consider: - It comes with a leather pouch, but you can't attach the pouch to a belt... - Maybe it's my version, but once the Communicator is fully charged, the light on the base is supposed to stay a steady blue or green... Mine keeps fluctuating between green, blue, yellow and red, as if it's never fully charged... - The die-cast base already seems a bit rusted immediately after opening the package, which is kinda of a bummer considering the price paid.

This Star Trek TOS Communicator is both a great adult toy, excellent prop for parties and fan conventions, and also a fairly practical daily-use Bluetooth speakerphone. I appreciate the attention to detail, with the dimensions/textures/details based closely on 3D scans of an original 'hero' prop communicator. The look and feel (and heft) are just right. The thought that went into making this really functional (to the extent possible in the real universe) is much appreciated. The manual is first rate.

With my android phone, no need to answer the calls through the phone. When the call comes in, you hear the familiar "beep-beep" from the communicator. Lift the gold antenna, you hear the familiar "chirping" sound and you simply answer the call!! Simple as that and you talk through the microphone and it is as if you are communicating with the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 miles above the earth!! This great device will astound any Star Trek enthusiast or die-hard Trekker!! I love it!! Get your's today!!

Very impressed with the weight of this. You can definitely tell it is not a toy. Speaker is plenty loud enough despite many reviews I have read where others have complained that is not loud enough. I may have to purchase another just for a display piece to compliment my Wand Company phaser.

This is, of course, amazing. As a kid if such a thing existed I would have broken open my college savings to buy it. First, read the instructions so you understand how to use the buttons. Second, the only negative is that after I make a call the communicator says "call terminated" and then it connects me. So that's dumb. It says it's not working but it is working. Shortly after it says "call terminated" it rings on the other end, the person you called picks up, and you're talking like Kirk on your communicator. For awhile I believed the "call terminated" message and was hanging up thinking the call really didn't go through. Also, when you use voice control to dial - and this is an iPhone issue not really the communicator - you have to pause after you activate the voice control and before you speak. If you speak too immediately the voice recognition won't kick in in time and it won't dial. You have to wait a beat. But again, that's the iPhone's issue.

Perfect in every way... an amazing, functional, prop. Only flaw, it turns itself on whenever it is charging, so it automatically connects to your phone, even when you are charging the communicator... preventing you from hearing your phone ring, or incoming text messages. When turned off, it should stay off when on the charger.

Now, this is a lot of money, it is, which is why a lot of people won't buy it, but let me tell you. This is the most fun I've had with a purchase ever. Not only is it hilarious to answer calls from a communicator in public, but it works really well. Like surprisingly well, the speakers are fantastic and I didn't expect the call quality to be as great as it was. So i'll be honest it was way better than I originally thought it was. Also very practical for hands free calling.
