In 2009 and for the first time in history, the U.S. Mint is issuing commemorative quarter-dollar coins for the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories, including Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa and the the Commonwealths of Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands.
Each coin will be issued separately and will be minted for a brief period – never to be produced again! The Franklin Mint is accepting advance reservations for a completed set of these six commemorative quarters in pristine, Brilliant Uncirculated condition and richly layered in 24 karat gold. Each coin is sealed inside a protective, crystal-clear acrylic capsule and is accompanied by a story card detailing each coin design and Certificate of Authenticity signed by Jay W. Johnson, 36th Director of the U.S. Mint.
