The theme of Christmas has been explored over centuries in coins, paper money, medals and tokens. The late Arlie Slabaugh, a pioneer in the field of exonumia numismatic collectibles other than coins and paper money, chronicled many Christmas-related items in The Numismatist, journal of the American Numismatic Association (ANA), and in the TAMS Journal, official publication of the Token and Medal Society, in the 1960s.
