The Kennedy Half Dollar is the most popular U.S. coin with collectors around the world, but few people ever manage to own all three mint marked coins in a single collection like this. This collection features one coin from each of the three U.S. Mints that have struck the coin for circulation: Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco.
The first Kennedy Half Dollar was minted in 1964 as a tribute to President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated on November 22, 1963. The portrait was first used on Kennedy’s official Presidential Medal struck by the U.S. Mint. Jacqueline Kennedy, the President’s widow, personally approved the coin design.
The reverse depicts the Presidential coat of arms and the mint mark can be found on the obverse, above the two middle numbers in the date. “P” mint mark is for coins struck in Philadelphia, “D” is for Denver, and “S” is for San Francisco.
The coins come in a custom display wallet with a Certificate of Authenticity. 6” x 5 ˝”
