A Federalist, Adams was one of the most influential Founding Fathers of the United States. One of his greatest strengths was judge of character: in 1775, he nominated George Washington to be Commander-in-Chief and 25 years later nominated John Marshall for U.S. Chief Justice. He published the pamphlet “Thoughts on Government” (1776), which was subsequently influential in the writing of state constitutions.

Madison is often described as the "Father of the Constitution" as he was critical in drafting the document that would become the United States Constitution. He later collaborated with Alexander Hamilton and John Jay to write the Federalist Papers, which helped garner popular and intellectual support for the Constitution.

Hamilton was the primary author of the economic policies of the George Washington Administration, establishing the blueprint for America’s exceptional financial system. Jay was an American revolutionary, a diplomat, a Founding Father of the United States and the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Jay was Governor of New York from 1795 to 1801 and became the state’s leading opponent of slavery. His third attempt to pass laws for the emancipation of all slaves in New York succeeded in freeing all the slaves there before his death in 1829.

As one of the best communicators in Congress, Jefferson was unanimously chosen to author the Declaration of Independence. A firm believer in the natural rights of the individual, he distrusted cities and financiers and favored states’ rights and a limited federal government.
