How quickly will I receive my order?
All Franklin Mint orders for in-stock items, will be processed and shipped within ten business days. Orders are subject to credit approval and product availability. All items are individually shipped and may not arrive on the same day. Standard shipping and handling charges are applicable to addresses in the continental United States only. Shipments to addresses outside of the continental US will require additional charges.

Priority Shipping via Federal Express is available for an additional charge. Please allow 2 days for Fed Ex delivery from the time the item ships. Fed Ex is not available for residents of Alaska, Hawaii, or US Territories. Fed Ex is not available for P.O. boxes or APO/FPO.

Can I ship my order to an address other than my billing address?
Yes, on orders under $1,000. Simply specify the Shipping Address to which you would like your order shipped during checkout.
We are unable to ship to a different address other then the billing address on any order over $1000.00.

All orders over $1000 must be shipped to a Residential Address. No Commercial/Business address. This is due to a signature being required on these orders. A business delivery will allow anyone to sign for the delivery and does not require the actual customer's signature.

Customs, Duties, and Taxes
The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to customs brokerage fees, import duties, and taxes after the shipment reaches the destination country. Additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient because we have no control over these government-imposed charges and cannot determine what they may be. Customs policies vary greatly among countries. Please contact your local customs office for information. Please expect two to three weeks for delivery of your product depending on the destination country.

Provide us with a phone number where you can be reached by customs when your product arrives. This phone number will be listed on the commercial invoice so customs can reach you to clear your order.

Please do not refuse a shipment or ignore requests from carriers regarding duty and/or tax liability charges. Be aware that most carriers will hold a shipment for 5 days after arrival in your country before they return it to the sender.

We do not refund original shipping charges for goods that are refused for delivery at customs.

Registering an Account
As a registered member of FranklinMint.com you'll enjoy many benefits including faster checkout, online access to your order history, and email confirmation of all orders and shipments.  Simply fill out the requested information on the Registration Page and click on the "Submit" button.

Username:
Your email address is now your "username." A valid email address is required to login to your account. If you have forgotten the email address associated with your account, please call 1-800-THE-MINT during regular business hours. A Franklin Mint Client Service representative will assist you in resetting your member account.

Password:
Forgot Your Password? If you have forgotten your Franklin Mint password, simply click here, enter the email address associated with your user account and your password will be emailed to you.

You may change your password at any time from the "My Account" section located in the top right corner of the homepage. You may have your password emailed to you from the Logon page.

Order History:
A history of your past and pending orders since 4/5/2004 is available through the "My Account" section of the website, located in the top right corner of The Franklin Mint homepage.

How do I place an order?
Ordering at FranklinMint.com is fast and secure. Select the items you wish to purchase and click the "Add to Cart" button to place the items in your shopping basket. Then, simply click on the "Checkout" button, enter your shipping/billing address and credit card information. Remember, you can remove items from your shopping basket at any time. To complete your purchase, click the "Next" button and confirm your order information. Then click on the "Submit" button to place your order. It's that easy!

Once you have registered for the first time, you will not have to re-enter your personal information each time you order. FranklinMint.com will send an order confirmation e-mail to you soon after receiving your order. Another email will be sent to you when your order has been shipped.

How do I create a Wish List?
Creating a Wish List is easy. First, you must be logged in to create and use your Wish List. Then simply select “Add to Wish List” from the product page. You will then be redirected to your new Wish List where you can keep shopping, rename your Wish List, or send your Wish List to friends - or yourself. Remember - you can even use your Wish List as your Shopping List for holidays, birthdays or special occasions! Already have a Wish List? You can view your Wish Lists through the “My Account” page.

What is a QR Code?
The QR code functions very much like the UPC code you see on retail products. The QR (for Quick Response) code is an image that can be scanned and used as a shortcut from a smartphone to an Internet location. To make it work, all you need is a QR reader. If you're a smartphone owner, you may have a QR reader already built in. If not, a quick search on the Internet will offer you plenty of choices - just download the reader as an app and you're all set. Additionally, you can search your phone's Marketplace for a QR reader app.

PAYMENT

What payment options are available?
We accept all major credit and debit cards displaying the Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover logos. When ordering, please be sure to provide your exact billing name and address-- this is the name and address listed on your credit card statement, which your credit card company has on file for you. Incorrect information may cause a delay in processing your order.

We accept checks and money orders submitted by postal mail. Checks may take approximately 10-15 business days to process. The Franklin Mint will not be held be responsible for the loss of payments sent via postal mail. We apologize for any inconvenience, but The Franklin Mint does not accept cash payments at this time.

Do you offer Easy Payments (or installment billing)? How does it work?
The Franklin Mint offers Easy Pay Installment Billing ("Easy Pay") for select items. With Easy Pay, you can spread out your payments over a number of installments designated by The Franklin Mint.

A major credit/debit card must be used to pay for all amounts invoiced under an Easy Pay Installment Billing Plan. Easy Pay purchases cannot be paid, in whole or in part, by means of a gift certificate or a store credit. Easy Pay purchases require credit approval which shall be determined by The Franklin Mint in its sole discretion. Easy Pay cannot be used for prior purchases or be combined with any other Franklin Mint promotion (for example, free shipping & handling promotions). Non payment of any amounts when due gives The Franklin Mint the right to immediately accelerate the remaining amount of the purchase price due and to charge the credit/debit card used at purchase for the full remaining balance. Charges by your financial institution due to insufficient funds or excessive transactions are the responsibility of the account holder.

The first payment under the Easy Pay Installment Billing Plan shall be due prior to shipping. The full amount of shipping, handling and sales tax, if any, will be added to your first payment.

Your Easy Pay installment payments shall be based on the actual items shipped within your order. If any items from your order are on backorder, these items will be broken out in new installment plans upon shipment. This may result in multiple monthly deductions on your credit/debit card.

At the time of shipping, The Franklin Mint will charge your credit/debit card for the Easy Pay first installment (plus the full amount of shipping, handling and sales tax, if any). The balance due will be charged automatically to your credit/debit card pursuant to the Easy Pay Installment Billing Plan you have chosen.

Easy Pay is only available on items where the Easy Pay option is specifically identified by The Franklin Mint and may only be offered by The Franklin Mint. Not all products are eligible for Easy Pay. The Easy Pay option is subject to the approval of The Franklin Mint and is offered at its sole discretion. Easy Pay cannot be used for prior purchases and cannot be combined with any other Easy Pay or Franklin Mint promotion (for example, free shipping & handling promotions). Unless otherwise noted, Easy Pay is not available on Subscription Plans. Easy Pay cannot be used toward the purchase of any Franklin Mint Gift Certificates, or any item sold through a third–party website linked to www.franklinmint.com. Easy Pay is not transferable and has no monetary value.

Is it safe to pay online by credit card?
Online shopping at FranklinMint.com is extremely safe. The Franklin Mint is fully equipped with a secure server for all online transactions. All transactions are encrypted and protected using secure socket layer (SSL) Encryption, the industry standard for securing your credit card and other personal information online.

Federal law protects consumers from credit card fraud, whether your card is used on the Internet or in a mail order transaction. In the unlikely event of credit card fraud when purchasing from FranklinMint.com, you are safeguarded from any liability when you promptly report the fraudulent transaction to the issuer of your credit card. Do I have to pay sales tax?
The Franklin Mint is required to charge applicable state sales tax on orders for residents of  New York and Pennsylvania. The applicable sales tax charges will be listed during the checkout process.

What items are not eligible for coupons or special promotions
The following items are NOT eligible for coupons or special promotions: Currency, Bullion Coins, Gift Certificates, Limited Editions of 500 pieces and under, Collectible Art, The Founding Fathers of America Coin Collection, new releases and sale items. This list may be modified at any time without notice.

ABOUT OUR MODELS

What exactly does “die-cast” mean?
Die-cast is a term for a manufacturing process whereby molten metal — usually zinc or aluminum — is injected into steel molds. The parts that come out of these molds — the car bodies, doors, hoods, trunks, chassis, etc. — are used in the assembly process.

The term die-cast was originally used to differentiate scale model material, as in die-cast metal models vs. plastic models. But the term has become generic and many times just the word die-cast is used to describe the type of model.

What does “scale model” mean?
“Scale” refers to the size of the model in relation to the actual car. For example, if the scale is listed as 1:24, then the model is 24 times smaller than the original car. Common scales are: 1:24, 1:18, 1:43, 1:64. Scaling initially became popularized mostly due to the model train hobby.

How many parts are there in a typical die-cast model?
In most Franklin Mint 1:24 scale models there are over 150 parts; many models have well over 200 parts. The main parts — body, interior, chassis, engine – are made up of many individual parts.

For example, some of our highly detailed engines alone include many parts: the engine block, valve covers, wiring, radiator, electrical parts, hoses, carburetor, air cleaner, pulleys and pumps, etc. These details even include caution and specification labeling on the engines.

Models on our website from other manufacturers vary significantly in the number of parts and level of complexity. Generally, the higher the price, the higher the part counts.
How do I clean and care for a Franklin Mint Precision Model?
Hopefully, very easily! All of our models come with a complete Care & Handling guide.

We always recommend displaying your model in a secure area — on a shelf, bookcase, cabinet or inside a Franklin Mint display case. Insure that your model is protected and displayed on a flat, level surface, preferably with a raised lip or edge. Enclosed shelving or cases protect further from dust and dirt.

Handling is very important! Since there are many fragile, detailed scale parts, you should grasp the vehicles firmly by the suggested areas and use the cotton gloves that are supplied to protect the fine paint finish on our models.

If the models do require cleaning or dusting, we suggest the following:
  • NEVER use any type of cleaning solution, as it could affect the paint finish
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe areas, taking particular care around fragile parts. Soft cotton or flannel works best
  • A soft bristle brush — artist's brush or camera lens brush — is recommended for dusting your model
  • Along with cotton gloves, most of our Franklin Mint Precision Models come with a small hand tool (Model Tool) to assist the collector in opening or operating the model's functioning areas. For example, the hoods open to reveal engine details, or on a convertible model the seats may push forward, just as they do on a real car. This tool both protects your model and allows easy access to hard-to-reach places.

Who decides what models to reproduce? Can I offer a suggestion?
We use a variety of channels to pick the models. These include: researchers, licensing contacts, experts, museums, private collections and published materials. We also welcome suggestions from our collectors or anyone who has an idea for a model.

Criteria includes: historical significance, popularity, rarity, unique design or famous designer, important or popular personality connection and price, as well as other criteria.

Keep in mind that, due to the exceptionally high cost of creating the tooling to produce a model, we review all ideas against a business plan that would justify the expenditures. Although some model ideas seem appealing or important, the market may not always be large enough to pursue the expense.

Why do I see other die-cast models at much lower prices?
There are many types of models and model kits available at all levels, from entry level pricing to very costly one-of-a-kind scale models.

Franklin Mint Precision Models are priced higher than big-box or mass-produced models, due to several factors. The number of parts, the functionality, the detailing, the quality of the paint finish, edition limits and the attention to scale are some of the reasons that our models — which we believe to be the best — command a higher price.

When visiting a hobby store or retailer, take time to look at some of the lower priced models. You'll notice how the paint finish lacks a certain luster or smooth appearance, how the chassis details are shown in relief instead of separate parts, how the interiors lack detailing or textures, and even the chrome parts have an inexpensive, metalized appearance. You'll immediately see the differences when you view a Franklin Mint Precision Model.

Why are many of the models Limited Editions? Are these hard limits true, or do you make more than the limit suggests?
With the variety of models on the market and the different levels of pricing, we found that it is important to limit many of our models to separate them from the production levels of mass retailers. Our models carry certain exclusivity and one way to insure that is to limit production to a specific number.

For example, if we limit a Corvette® model to 1,500 pieces worldwide, we add a numbered plate to each model, along with a corresponding numbered certificate. Each car is individually numbered. We do in fact produce up to a dozen sample pieces under agreement to the licensing agent, which they require for retention for their records. These pieces are marked AP (Artist Proof) and cannot be sold or traded; they are meant solely to fulfill licensed sponsor agreements.

Once we sell out of a Limited Edition model, we will never reproduce it again.

What is the value of my collectible?
The Franklin Mint does not have the facilities to appraise, evaluate, or track the aftermarket value of our products. Due to constant fluctuations in the collectibles market, we are unable to quote current prices. We do not recommend or endorse any agency or company in the secondary market.

Our best suggestion for obtaining information pertaining to your collectibles is to reference online auction sites or collectible periodicals and magazines. Your local library should be able to assist you in obtaining the information you need. Another very good source is the various chat rooms and messages boards on the Internet. You might also want to employ the services of an independent appraiser.

CANCELLATION

How do I cancel my subscription?
A Subscription Plan is a collection of items shipped to you over time. Each item in a Subscription Plan will be billed and shipped separately, until the collection is complete.

The Franklin Mint will keep track of the items you have received within a collection and its records will be the official records of such shipments.

At the beginning of your Subscription Plan, you will be asked to provide your credit/debit card information. The Franklin Mint will charge the credit/debit card you supplied as your product is shipped. For information on our credit/debit card security and privacy standards, please see the sections below.

You are responsible for updating your shipping and credit/debit card information. If your information is not properly updated in The Franklin Mint’s database system, The Franklin Mint has no obligation to continue shipping to you.

The Franklin Mint Return Policy individually applies to each item purchased through a Subscription Plan. If you are dissatisfied with the items received in any particular shipment, those items may be returned pursuant to the terms described above. However, individual items received by you in prior shipments that do not meet the requirements of The Franklin Mint Return Policy will not be accepted as returns.

You may discontinue your Subscription Plan at any time upon 30 (thirty) days written notice. The Franklin Mint reserves the right to cancel Subscription Plans at any time.

Pricing for individual items in a Subscription Plan may change during the course of the Subscription Plan due to increased materials costs, manufacturing costs, licensing fees, shipping & handling charges and other factors, including but not limited to macro-economic factors such as inflation. Should there be a price change, a notification will be sent to the account contact information The Franklin Mint has on file prior to the shipment where the price change occurs.

We offer a 30-day money back guarantee on all products manufactured by The Franklin Mint. Gold must be returned within 7 days of purchase. Please note that we cannot accept returns on customized or personalized items unless the product is defective in some way.
