When the U.S. Mint struck the first coin in the new Presidential Dollars series in 2007, a small number of coins were accidentally released without the usual lettering on the edge. This is a RARE ERROR - the edge is missing all of the edge lettering (date, mintmark, In God We Trust and E Pluribus Unum). The U.S. Mint is honoring our nation's Presidents by issuing $1 circulating coins featuring their images in the order that they served, beginning in 2007 with Presidents Washington, Adams, Jefferson and Madison.

The Mint will issue four Presidential $1 coins per year and each will have a reverse design featuring a striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty. These coins feature larger, more dramatic artwork.
