Description

Created on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War. The start of the Civil War took place at Fort Sumter, South Carolina on April 12, 1861. This collection includes rare and historic artifacts - each a genuine relic of the War Between the States. Your collection includes:

  • A genuine Civil War Penny (minted from 1861 to 1865) and hand-selected to be in very good or better condition with full date easy to read and free of excessive wear. sealed inside a special hologram holder to preserve its condition and allow for viewing of both sides of the coin.
  • A 1864 document known as a Confederate Bond Coupon. These small coupons were hand-cut from the larger bond and allowed for a partial redemption of value to be paid every six months. Coupons are numbered and bear the signature mark of Robert Taylor, son of the U.S. President Zachary Taylor and Secretary of Confederate Treasury.
  • Informative story card and a Certificate of Authenticity.

The coupon measures approximately 1 1/2 inches high by 3 inches wide. These surviving examples are in pristine, uncirculated condition and professionally mounted to protect and preserve within your collection.
