Description

Singer Rod Stewart holds a bottle of Blue Nun wine and talks with British singer David Bowie backstage at Madison Square Garden, where Stewart performed, New York City, February 2nd, 1975. Stewart is wearing matching satin pants and vest with a satin shirt and polka-dot scarf. Bowie is wearing a suit with a fedora and aviator sunglasses.

Roderick David Stewart (born January 10th, 1945) is an English born singer and songwriter of Scottish descent, most known for his uniquely raspy, gravelly, hoarse-sounding voice and personable singing style, as exemplified in his signature song "Maggie May".

David Bowie first caught the eye and ear of the public in the autumn of 1969, when his space-age mini-melodrama "Space Oddity" reached the top five spot on the UK singles chart.

"The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" is a 1972 concept album by David Bowie, praised as the definitive album of the 1970's by Melody Maker Magazine. It peaked at #5 in the United Kindom and #75 in the United States on the Billboard Music Charts, and inspired a similarly titled 1973 documentary by D.A. Pennebaker.

The album presents the story, albeit vaguely, of "Ziggy Stardust", a Martian who comes to earth to liberate humanity from banality. Ziggy Stardust is the definitive rock star, wild in drug intake and with a message, ultimately, of peace and love; but he is destroyed by his own excesses of drugs and sex, and torn apart by the fans he inspired. The mythological story cycle of the doomed Messiah endeared itself to fans now and then.

This Limited Edition Fine Art Giclee is printed on acid-free Mead paper with a hand-torn deckled edge. It is hand-titled, hand-numbered and features an embossed seal of authenticity from the Hulton|Archive Collection.
